Marking the sleeps

So it’s about eight days before we start the 25 day count down to Xmas (if you celebrate it at all), and so I have looked for some easy ideas for making an advent calendar. There will be a few of them I am guessing in the next day or so. Some will be more complex than others. I have taken the time to find these things so you don’t have to 🙂

Here is a way of maing the calendar out of something we all have in the house:toilet rolls. https://www.wikihow.life/Make-an-Advent-Calendar#:~:text=Making%20an%20Advent%20Calendar%20Out%20of%20Toilet%20Paper,8%20Mount%20the%20calendar%20on%20a%20wall.%20

Give it a go and see how you get on. Let us know what you endd up with at thestoryshedblog@gmail.com

Searching for the words

I have challenged myself to find 25 stories again this year for Xmas as a kind of advent calendar. If you have any stories that you have written, that you are willing to let me read out then send them to me at thestoryshedblog@gmail.com

I will be putting up some word prompts if this helps to create some new work, and I will probably be raiding Christmas word searches. Is that cheating lol ?

Will I end up on the naughty list if it is? I know there are alot of people out there who are very good at writing, and you know sometimes it is fun to just give it a go. Challenge yourself and see what you can come up with. Do it with friends, do it with family. Just do it 🙂

November is Nanowrimo month when people write a novel in a month. Let’s make December Decetales month, where you write a Christmas story. You can send them to thestoryshedblog@gmail.com if you are happy to do that.

Christmas is a coming

He may be here a bit early, but Xmas is on the way, For the next few weeks we will be posting story prompts to help you write your own stories. We hope to have some art activities as well from the internet to share with you.

Don’t forget that Christmas is not just about the presents, and is also a time for you to make your own fun. Play a game, write a story, make some decorations, and share ideas with us. Give us a story or two to read in the shed, and we may even have a competition nearer to Xmas.

You can contact us at thestoryshedblog@gmail.com

What would you like to see here?

I was wondering what kinds of things would make the storyshedblog more useful for you? Would you like more word prompts? More activities found on the internet and curated for you? Would you like more writing, or more images? Sometimes it is nice to get some feedback on these things.

The purpose of the videos and the blog here is to give you a bit of an escape from the world. To find a safe haven, and hopefully to inspire you to do something that brings some joy. Even better if you can work with someone else on stuff, children and adults who still enjoy an element of childhood in their lives.

The Three Little Pigs

Yesterday I read the classic tale of the three little pigs. I wasn’t sure if I had read it before or not. I need to make a list of the stories I have recorded so that I don’t repeat too many of them. This story would be in my top ten for sure, as it is a wonderful story.

You can find the video here: https://youtu.be/uKa7hmlyiCk

If you were going to write a story after the big bad wolf had been dealt with, what would it be about. What would the three little pigs end up doing? Would they be happy in their new home? Or would they decide that they wanted to travel and go on adventures.

Resources coming soon

Hello,

We have probably neglected the blog part of thestoryshedblog too much, and we are sorry for that. From today we will be putting up a variety of ideas and resources to help you hopefully be more creative.

It would be great to have stories from you to read in the shed, or if you have any ideas for making it better then please write to us at thestoryshedblog@gmail.com. We are hoping to have more themed project work, like our previous dragon week. If you have any suggestions for this then please let us know at the email address given.

We look forward to hearing from you, but before we close here are some story prompts for getting you going.

chocolate

Look forward to hearing what you come up with.

Dive right in…

One of the things that creative people really need to learn, is that sometimes it is only possible to get the work done by diving into the void. It may well be that you end up writing things that you are not happy with, but it is also good to keep on going. You never know when you will find a sentence that will be useful later on.

It is good just to keep that writing muscle in shape. This is why I put up writing prompts to hopefully light up your mind. They say writing is a solitary thing, but don’t forget it is also possible to make writing into a game that can be played with a group of friends or family. More hopefully on this later. In the meantime here are some words to play with.

Rubber duck

Towel

Shower

Bar of soap

Water gun

See what you can come up with. 🙂

Time for a return

Hi, we have been away for some time now. I think it is almost a year. But it is probably time for us to take up the blog once more. We will be doing a number of things this time around. More story prompts, perhaps a bit more art and creativity. All of this will of course be tied in with
