Stories to keep you sane
So as well as being frightening Halloween should also be enjoyable. I am a big fan of play and fun (whether you are a child or an adult) Let’s be honest this is a point in time when we need more laughs. And if you can’t actually go trick or treating we hope that you can use some of the ideas that I have sourced for you. This one is more play based than many of the others:
I have pulled together some bits of clipart for you to use as story prompts. What can you come up with that will be very scary for this Halloween. Set your quill to parchment, and bring us something wonderful to read or hear:
You can use one or all of the images to inspire you to create something. Just let yourself enjoy the process and let your imagination fly 🙂

Here are a few more bits of poetry to get you in the mood for Halloween. It’s only a couple of weeks away according to my cackling clock of horror. Hope that you are all keeping well and are already preparing for the very Sppppoookky Night. Just remember not to leave it all to the last minute. Because that would just be frightful now wouldn’t it.
So this is a more surprising Halloween thing, and I thought you would at least like to see it. It involves treats for the kids, but not such a good time for the poor old pinata. There is a lot of fun to be had with this particular idea commonly associated with Mexico. Beat the pinata, whilst wishing it Hasta La Vista baby….
It is true that nobody is immune to the Halloween spirit. There are participants all over the world, in different shapes and sizes. But who would have thought that the penguins would be in on it as well? I wonder if they get frozen fish fingers for their treats rather than sweets.
You will probably know by now that we are very keen on puppets here at the story shed blog. Even better if you can make them yourselves, because you can give them character and life. Why not spend a bit of time making some of these flying fellas. I have found some links from “have to put some work in” to simpler stuff.
You know you are going to have to have some bats in the belfry….
Hi, we are now half way through Spooky Month, and we hope that you are doing okay. There are of course a fair few resources on the blog now, and if there are any ideas that you would like to share please do: thestoryshedblog@gmail.com. Maybe a checklist would be good: decorations, costumes, food, treats, entertainment. Make sure that even if you are locked down you are still able to celebrate.
We are going to put up hopefully some more food things for your Halloween. Maybe even some healthy ones, as well as the sweeties. But let’s be honest…where would you put broccoli in the trick or treat categories! So for people who are more inclined to have a shocking sugary snack here is a page that I found on the interweb. If you do make them don’t eat them all at once 🙂
Midnight is of course the Witching hour, and you are going to want to know when the clock strikes twelve. So for this Halloween you might want to have a look at making your very own clock. I found this on the internet and thought I would share it with you. Don’t let it wind down, as after all you don’t want to be late for the fun.
